Cross Country Weapon: Racing the Salty Dog on the Rocky Mountain Element

The 23rd annual Salty Dog Enduro in Salmon Arm delivered everything you could want in a spring XC race—fast pace, fresh trails, and fierce competition. With a new course layout, racers had to stay sharp and adaptable through every lap, and the Rocky Mountain Element proved to be the perfect partner for the challenge.

The race kicked off at a blistering pace, and the first lap was all about survival and finding space. By lap two, Steve settled into his rhythm, relying on the Element’s lightweight frame and razor-sharp handling to carve through the course efficiently. As the laps ticked by, he began to pick off positions, focusing on consistency and smart pacing. The result: a solid 3rd place finish with 7 laps completed—his best finish at Salty Dog to date.

This race was a true reminder of just how dialed the Rocky Mountain Element really is. Built for speed, but balanced for control, it’s a cross-country race weapon that thrives in technical terrain and long endurance efforts. Whether climbing punchy singletrack or descending tight switchbacks, the Element delivered. Having a dependable setup like this gives the confidence to push harder, ride faster, and race smarter.
