Retail Associate – Consignment

We’re looking for a Retail Associate who enjoys connecting with people, has a good eye for quality gear, and is comfortable working independently in a small retail environment.

The Role

As a Retail Associate, you’ll help create a positive and welcoming experience for customers buying and selling gear. Because the consignment shop operates as a separate location, this role requires someone who is self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing the shop during their shift.

You’ll handle daily retail operations, assist customers with consignment items, and support basic administrative tasks that keep the store running smoothly.

 

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

  • Provide friendly, welcoming service to customers buying and selling consignment items
  • Help customers find the right gear and clothing for their needs
  • Clearly explain the consignment process and answer questions about pricing or payouts
  • Create a relaxed, community-focused shopping experience

Consignment & Retail Operations

  • Receive, tag, and process consignment items according to store guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-merchandised sales floor
  • Operate POS and complete sales transactions accurately
  • Assist with pricing, sorting, and displaying incoming gear and apparel

Shop Operations

  • Open and close the store independently when scheduled
  • Monitor daily task lists and maintain shop standards
  • Ensure displays and inventory remain organized and appealing
  • Communicate with the GearHub team regarding inventory, questions, or customer requests

Administrative Support

  • Help maintain accurate records for consignment items and payouts
  • Assist with basic inventory tracking and paperwork
  • Support simple operational tasks such as labeling, filing, and reporting

 

Growth Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to grow with the store as it develops. For the right candidate, this position may evolve into a Consignment Store Lead role.

As the store expands, a successful candidate could take on additional responsibilities such as:

  • Supporting the day-to-day leadership of the store
  • Helping refine the consignment intake and pricing process
  • Assisting with merchandising and store presentation
  • Contributing ideas to help grow the consignment program

We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative and wants to be part of building something new within the GearHub community.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Friendly, approachable personality with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Organized and comfortable handling light administrative tasks
  • Interest in outdoor gear, clothing, and the mountain lifestyle
  • Retail experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a small retail space
